The Polishes Challenge: 11. Ugliest

Hi Girls!

Today I am going to show you an old polish, that I never even dreamt of showing you.

I am talking about this pink base color:

Products I have used:
  • Avon ColorTrend - Peekaboo --> in the catalog it looked great, but in reality I think it is one of the ugliest polishes I have ever tried. My other ugly polish that comes to mind is this yellow cracking polish from Flormar. You can view the whole post here.

The Polishes Challenge: 10. Most Expensive

Hi Girls!

Finally a "real-time" post, not a scheduled one :-)
Today I am supposed to show you my most expensive polish. Usually I don't buy expensive polishes. I have my favorite brands and I am faithful to them. One of them is Flormar. The polish I have used for this challenge is from the Wet Look collection. The polish has a wide brush and a nice bottle :-).

After I have finished the manicure I have realized that it's a perfect ... Christmas manicure :-).

My untried polishes for this challenge are:
  • Flormar Wet Look - Nr. WL08 --> aproximately 3 EUR / 10 RON
  • Happy Hands Nail Polish - Tricks Are Something A Whore Does For Money Or Candy --> This is an indie polish I got as a gift. It's a fabulous polish so I guess it has a pretty price :-)

Vacation Guest Post - Sun after Storm

Hi Girls!

Today the guest posting series comes to an end. The last, but not the least guest of mine is Carla. She created a beautiful sun that I hope to see in Greece :-D.

Some words from her: "Hello, my name is Carla. I love to paint my nails, this is the reason why I created my blog Sun after Storm. Thank you Nail Glaze for offering me the chance to post on your blog."

"I made a summer manicure with a neon orange nail polish. On the ring finger I painted a sun with sunglasses. The other nails are simple, with only a black line. Hope you like my manicure, it's easy to make it. Kisses!"

As she already said, her nails are simple but ... sunny. I like her summer manicure a lot. Would you wear it?

Vacation Guest Post - Unghiutele Mele

Hi Girls!

Today's guest is Ana Maria from Unghiutele Mele.

Some words from my guest: "Sunt Ana Maria de pe UnghiuteleMele . Pentru guest post-ul din perioada vacantei tale,  vreau sa-ti trimit si eu un model. Ai dorit ceva de vara, iar pentru ca eu vara o vad ca o multitudine de culori,  asta am incercat sa realizez - culori. Sper sa placa interpretarea mea."

For the vacation guest posts I have asked for summer manicures. Ana Maria sees summer as a multitude of color and this is what she had in mind when creating this beautiful manicure.

I especially like her butterflies and would surely wear this manicure.

Challenge 27: The Supernatural

Hi Girls!

This a scheduled post.

The theme for today's challenge was a real challenge. The supernatural ... I had no idea what to make of it.
Well ... I decided to draw my little monsters on my nails. They are little, colorful and friendly :-D. My boyfriend thinks they are too childish. What do you think? :-)

Products I have used:
  • Acrilic paints
  • OPI - Top Coat

Vacation Guest Post - Lit From Within

Hi Girls!

My next guest is Nidia from Lit From Within.
Here's her brilliant guest post :-)

"Hi, I'm Nidia, and I run a little blog called  Lit From Within. When Agota put out the request for guest posts, I was honored to be chosen!  She asked me for a summer mani, and this is what I came up with. Lush Lacquer Gumballs.  When my husband saw this, he immediately said, "That looks like bubblegum."  Good name for this cute polish!  This is three coats - it could have had a little better coverage, and a few more glitters.  I'd rather have a polish cover well in 2 coats, and not worry about moving the glitter around to cover my nail.

Vacation Guest Post - O fata simpla

Hi Girls!

We continue with the guest posts! Yeah! :-D

Today's guest will be Anca from O fata simpla. You have to check out her blog. She has some amazing manicures. I am in love with her long nails :-).

I leave you with her guest post: "Hello everyone. My name is Anca and I am a beauty blogger for only half and year, O fata simpla, but I have come to know a lot of people, including NailGlaze, which I have to thank for the opportunity of guest posting today. I was planing of creating a colored, flower manicure... but every time I have something like this in mind, the result is not quite what I want. So I am going to say that I wanted to create an abstract flower manicure, not really, but this is what came out. I started with a colored french, then added some white lines and flowers. It is not what I had in mind, but I like the result, it is colored and perfect for summer. Products used: let's just say a lot of nail polishes."

"What do you think? Would you wear this manicure?" I would, I would!!! :-D

The Polishes Challenge: 9. Cheapest

Hi Girls!

This a scheduled post. If everything goes as planed, when you're reading this, I should be somewhere here:

Back to our little challenge. Today's polish should be the cheapest untried / not shown:

I am not 100% sure that this is the cheapest I have ever bought, but I wore this polish at my interview for the job I still have, in June 2009. Back then I was a student with no income, so this should have been really cheap :-D.

I have forgotten how nice this polish is. I still like it after 4 years. In the above images I have applied only 1 coat! Now tuned up with some dots and lines:

Products I have used:
  • Pacific Gabrini - Nr. 43
  • Flormar - Nr. NA01
  • Flormar - Nr. NA12

Vacation Guest Post - Summer Gold

Hi Girls!

The following days I will be on vacation in Rhodos, Greece :-D
While I am gone, on my blog you will see scheduled guest posts from some really talented nail bloggers. Enjoy them!

We start the series with Andreea M. from Summer Gold

Some words from my guest. : "Hey! Astazi sunt invitata pe Nailglaze.com pentru a crea o manichiura
de vara, pe care am intitulat-o "Summer Nails". Inainte de a va arata ceea ce a iesit, vreau sa ii multumesc Agotei pentru aceasta ocazie."
Translated: to English: "Hey! Today I was invited on Nailglaze.com to create a summer manicure, which I named "Summer Nails". Before I show you my manicure I want to thank Agota for the guest post possibility."

The Techniques Challenge

Hi Girls!

One last post before I get on the plain, direction Rhodos, Greece :-)

I am thinking about starting The Techniques Challenges together with You! There are so many techniques to create manicures with, some easier, some harder. This challenge would help us practice and learn from each other.

We would post once a week, manicures created with different techniques (as in the list below). This will not be easy but that's what a challenge is for, isn't it? :-)

The banner of the challenge:

The list with the challenges:

If you would like to participate along with other bloggers at this challenge, join the Glitterholic Facebook group here or click the Glitterholic icon in the right side bar. After that, leave a blog post comment with your name and the blog address where you will be posting and you are done! I hope to learn a lot from you during this challenge.

50.000 Views Giveaway (closed)

Hi Girls!

Today NailGlaze has reached 50.000 views and for this occasion I have decided to organize a giveaway :-).
Your prize will be a glitter nail polish set from Claire's Cosmetics:

Blue Stamping

Hi Girls!

I am into stamping ... again!
For today's manicure I have used a blue stamping polish that I got from Born Pretty Store for review.

I have been asked: "What is so special about stamping polishes?", "Aren't they ordinary polishes in a little bottle?". Well ... yes and no. I have tried stamping with several polishes so far and from my experience stamping only works when the polish used for creating the design is pigmented enough. If you have to apply 2 or more coats of a polish to get the color you see in the bottle, it will certainly not work as a stamping polish. Your stamping polish has to be very pigmented and has to have a thicker formula then usual polishes. Now, this is exactly what a stamping polish is: thick and pigmented. Using a special stamping polish doesn't guarantee a perfect stamping, but it sure is a major help.

Products I have used:
  • China Glaze - Icicle (silver base)
  • Stamping polish from Born Pretty Store. Item Nr. 5502, shade 1. Check out this item and the other shades here
  • Noname stamping plate

Before I show you my manicure I want to warn you that this was my first attempt of galaxy nails. I like the result and I am thinking at repeating it. It reminds me of the Milky Way :-D.

Products I have used:
  • Gabrini Matte - Nr. M 07 (blue)
  • Maybeline - Nr. 630 Dark Denim (blue)
  • Rimmel - Nr. 58 Lemon Drop
  • Flormar Supermatte - Nr. M103

The Polishes Challenge: 8. Newest

Hi Girls!

Finally I managed to post today's challenge manicure on time! Unbelievable :-).
I do see a contradiction in this challenge though: the moment you create a manicure with a polish, that polish is no longer the newest untried polish, it becomes the newest tried polish. Doesn’t it? :-D

My newest (un)tried polish is a viridian green shade KIKO:

And now the manicure:

Products I have used:
  • KIKO - Nr. 343 (viridian green)
  • Flormar Supermatte - Nr. 103 (white)
  • Stamping Polish from Born Pretty Store (black)
  • Noname stamping plate

Challenge 25: Rainbow Nails

Hi Girls!

For this challenge I have tried a new technique: the one stroke. You will certainly get a great effect using this technique but you will have to works for it. To sweat for it :-P

My nails are relatively small so I had to use a simplified rainbow :-). I have used only the main colors: red, yellow, green, blue and purple.
