Embroidery manicure

The following manicure was inspired by the traditional Hungarian embroidery from Transylvania (some pictures here). My grandmother used to spend her free time with this and the whole house was decorated with these beautiful red needlework.

T.P.A. Group Challenge: 6. Inspired by Tattoos

Hi Girls!

I am back with a new manicure from The Polish Addict Group Challenge: Inspired by Tattoos.

Products I have used:
  • Miyo Nailed it! - Nr. 28. This is my newest acquisition and I already love it. I have used it in two coats and it dried fast. I am sensitive to this characteristic of a polish :-).  You find the polish at www.magiq.ro
  • Flormar True Color - Nr. 027
  • Konad image plate - Nr. m77
  • Born Pretty Store - Black stamping polish
I am not that into tattoos, so my manicure is practically a stamped image. If it were to make myself a tattoo, I could imagine the leafs from the manicure on my shoulder.

I love how this manicure turned out. I find the black - mint combination fabulous! And those dots... Sorry for being so "modest" but I really really like my nails today :-)

The next challenge will be Inspired by Celebrity Nails and will be posted on the 12th of October, 2013.

Let's check out the other manicures too:

T.P.A. Group Challenge: 5. Inspired by a Country

Hi Girls!

I have thought about this manicure for a few days and I couldn't find the perfect design :-(.
Finally I decided to do something with the German flag's colors and this is the result:

Products I have used:
  • Bourjois - Rouge in style
  • Flormar SuperShine - Nr. 41
  • Born Pretty Store - Black Stamping Polish
  • Stamping plate

I really like how the yellow color looks on my nails. After 3 coats the Flormar polish covers perfectly.

The next challenge will be Inspired by Tattos and will be posted on the 5th of October, 2013

T.P.A. Group Challenge: 1. Inspired by Pop Art

Hi Girls!

The 31 Weeks Challenge is over but there is no need to worry! I am back with a new challenge: T.P.A. (The Polish Addict) Group Challenge (created by G :-).
If the 31 Weeks Challenge was hard, this will make us sweat!

The first challenge is Inspired by Pop Art. Though, huh?! :-)

My manicure:

Products I have used:
  • Astor Perfect Stay - Flashy Pink
  • Acrylic Paint (black, white, blue)
For those who don't recognize my poor pop art design, it's a piece from a blue heart with some dots. No, it's not a ladybird as my colleagues from work noticed :-)

At first it looked like this ...

... then I have added the dots:

The next challenge will be A flower and will be posted on the 7th of September, 2013.

The Polishes Challenge: 4. Neutral

Hi Girls!

For this challenge I have chosen a polish that brought a while ago...but I have no idea why!
I wore it for the first time today and even my boss said that I have an "uninteresting" polish. This says a lot about it, don't you think?

Challenge 19: Black and White

Hi Girls!

This Saturday's challenge is: Black and White. For this challenge I decided to break out of my comfort zone. This means no stamping, no dotting and no stripes, but something freehand. While I was struggling with my nonexistent muse, I saw a plant in my mani-corner :-D. Bling!!! I will paint a black and white leaf :-)

Challenge 18: Inspired by a Pattern

Hi Girls!

I am in such a good mood today (don't ask why, I have no idea :-D).
It's Saturday and it's time for a new challenge. I have to confess that since last week this time I had no idea what my pattern will look like and for 2 hours my nails were "naked" and crying for a manicure :-)

We were supposed to get inspired by a pattern, so I took a look at my closet, trying to find a pattern through my clothes. This is when I realized  that I am stripes-crazy. I counted 35 T-shirts with stripes :-S.

Having no pattern to imitate, I decided to create my own pattern. I hope you like it and see the pattern in it :-).

Hi Girls!

This Saturday's Challenge was: Fashion Nails. I had no idea how a fashion nail should look like, but then I saw this manicure at Beauty Nails Fun and it suddenly became clear what I wanted to do.

Products I have used:
  • Golden Rose - Nr. 182 (base color)
  • Coral Art - Nr. 31 (pink lines)
  • White and blue acrylic paints
  • Dotting tool

  • Natty Orkide - Nr. 323 (light blue) -> I am in love with this color! It's such a happy light blue :-D.
  • White acrylic paint
  • Gemstones

Challenge 12: Inspired by a book

Hi Girls!

Inspired by a book was one of the most complicated challenges for me. Days passed and I had no idea what manicure I would present today.

To solve this problem I used Occam's Razor. Wikipedia's definition sounds like this:  "Occam's Razor states that among competing hypotheses, the one that makes the fewest assumptions should be selected". My definition is more simple: the easiest solution is the best one.

I asked myself: "Which is your all time favorite book?". And the answer was: "The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco".

This novel is a historical murder mystery which takes place in 1327, in an Italian monastery, but I preferred to draw only the "title" of the book, not it's story :-).

Products I have used:
  • OPI - My Vampire is Buff (from the Euro Centrale Collection)
  • Acrylic paints

Collaboration: 1st of March

Hi Girls!

Before I start today’s post I would like to say a few words about the  1st  of March tradition.
Martisor (you should read it as [mərtsiʃor]) is the celebration of spring and is symbolically related to women and fertility. You will find this celebration in Romania, Bulgaria (by the name of Martensita), in some parts of Albania, Greece and Italy.
Traditionally men offered four-leaf clovers to female relatives, friends and colleagues, but today you will find all kinds of available gifts on the street. This little gifts are always decorated with red and white strings.  Red is the color of fire and blood and it is associated with passion, while white is the color of snow and wisdom of men. In this way, the string represents a union between the man and the woman.

Tonight, after I “gather” my Martisors, I will post some photos, so that you can make an idea about what I am talking here :-)

Let’s get back to our business! Along with some bloggers we have decided to use this occasion for a new collaboration. You could choose between posting a manicure or a make-up inspired by spring. I have naturally chosen a manicure :-)

Products I have used:
  • Maybelline MiniColorama – Nr. 96 Party Blue (light blue for the sky)
  • Acrylic Paints (2 types of green for the grass, 2 types of red for the ladybird, white and black for dots)

Challenge 6: Inspired by a SONG

Hi Girls!

I just can't believe that today is Saturday... again! I was waiting for this challenge for a long time. I've known what my song inspired manicure will look like ever since the moment I had started the 31 Days/Weeks Challenge collaboration :-D

I was inspired by Alicia Keys' song: Girl On Fire. I have first heard this song on my favorite radio station: Slow Radio.

Products I have used:
  • Flormar Supermatte - Nr. M103 (white base color)
  • Acrilic paints (red, carmin, yellow, white, black)

Flormar Nr. 429 with Nail Tape Stripes

The time has come to present one of my favorite shades: Flormar Nr. 429.
I have used this polish in an another post too. You can visit the manicure here.

Products I have used:
  • 2 coats of Flormar Nr. 429
  • 2 blue nail tape strips for every nail (they give an extravagant look to your nails but without a top coat they won't last long on the nails)

Challenge 5: Stripes

Today is Saturday again and this means: Challenge Time!
This Weeks Challenge was: Stripes. I found this challenge a bit awkward and unfortunately this is all I could come up with:

Products I have used:
  • Brooklin - Nr. BRKF2 Neon Pink (brought from Lady's, online)
  • Flormar Nail Art - NA12

Challenge 4: Orange Nails

This weeks challenge, the orange nails, is really close to my heart. That is because the polish that I have used for this manicure is the one that inspired me to start this nail blog in the first place. You may go here to check out my very first posted picture back in 2011.

Getting back to the present here is my recent work with the same old bottle of polish. My little friend, the Tiger hasn't joined me this time, but I believe that the result has still turned out quite nice.

Things that I have used:

  • Maybelline New York - Nr. 460 Orange Couture
  • Maybelline New York - Nr. 630 Dark Denim
  • FIMO Flowers

Challenge 2: Polka Dots

I have been working on this manicure (including the processing of the pictures) for 2 hours! I don't have much experience with polka dots and therefor it was a challenge to come up with a good combination of colors and dots.

What I have used:
  • Base coat - Farmec
  • Base color in 2 coats - Golden Rose Nr. 110
  • Polka dots - Flormar Nail Art Nr. NA12
  • Top coat -  OPI
  • Home made dotting tool
I was inspired by a see snail I brought last summer in Greece.
