2 Years Anniversary and Short Story

My dear readers,

this is a very special day for me. My blog turns 2 years old today! :-)

As you know, I have decided to organize my first giveaway for this occasion. The happy winner is Daniela Zaharia. Congatulations! 

I would like to share with you the short story of my little blog, which I am so proud of. 

On the 27th of March, 2011 I bought an orange nail polish from Auchan, during a launch break. I went home, painted my nails and and I saw that they looked really nice. I couldn't resist taking a photo while I was holding Tiger, Winnie The Pooh's friend. The days passed and I was so proud of that photo (I even printed it out), I wanted to show it to the whole world! This is when the idea of a blog popped into my mind!

At first the blog was called: Lililala's Photo Nail Blog (maybe some of you still remember it as such). My plan was to post mostly photos (my English wasn't that good at the time).

At the beginning I was posting only NOTDs (of course, at the time I had no idea that they were in fact NOTDs). I had no idea what is a blogroll, GFC, Labels and much more. :-) I just posted my daily manicure.

Time had passed and during my first year I had posted 46 manicures/NOTDs. 

In 2012 I got promoted, life started to accelerate and Lililala's Photo Nail Blog was left behind. There had been only 29 posted manicures, none in September, October and November. (I am so ashamed of this fact).

Then in January 2013 something happened. I realized that I am still in love with nail polishes (more than ever, my stash grew from 20 to 150 polishes). In January 2013 I bought my own domain name, started to redesign my blog, joined several groups on Facebook and participated in several challenges.

I owe special thanks to the members of Girls Online who supported me and accepted me in their collective. I started to grow the moment I joined you!

Today I have 127  followers, 119 published posts (including this one :-) ), around 28.000 views and a mind full of potential manicures!

NOTD - China Glaze: Whirled Away

Today I am wearing one of my dream polishes: China Glaze - Whirled Away :-). 

As base color I have used Rimmel Lycra - Nr. 291 Urban Princess.

This polish has the same "problem" as the rest of Cirque Du Soleil Collection: without applying a top coat, the glitters will come off the nail. Besides this, I like the black and white effect you get.

Today I want to show you my new favorite polish. It is a China Glaze from the Cirque Du Soleil Collection: It's a trap-eze! and it's a glitter polish!

  I find it interesting that the glitters aren't in a transparent polish but in a milky white base. This gives a special effect to the glitters. They look less.... glittery :-). This way you can apply the polish directly on your base coat, no need for a base color. For these pictures I have used a pink base color (Rimmel Lycra Pro - Nr. 291 Urban Princess) but I have to admit that I liked the simple version better.

Question 1: GREED: What is your most inexpensive nail polish? What is your most expensive one?

Answer 1: My most inexpensive nail polishes are the ones manufactured by Natty and they cost 2,5 RON. That is approximately 0,5 EUR or  0,7 USD. Even though they are so inexpensive, the polishes dry quickly and are applied easily.

China Glaze - Get Carried Away

I am a big fan of China Glaze and especially of their Cirque Du Soleil Collection. I have had the glitter polish “Get Carried Away” for a looong time on my secret Wishlist.

Apparently it wasn’t such a big secret after all :-). Today morning this dreampolish waited patiently in my purse to be discovered.  I have the sneaking suspicion that I know who is behind this and I can’t thank him enough :-). 

The polish is already on my nails I just don’t have a camera right now to take the pictures.

And now a little about the polish itself:

• It has 6 kinds of glitters (little silver and black spots, black sticks, black, silver and pink hexagonal glitters)
• The polish is full of the glitters. With one coat you will have sufficient glitters on your nails. Although, if you don’t use this polish on a color base coat you will need to apply 2 coats. Otherwise it looks like and unfinished manicure
• The base color of the polish is gray (usually glitter polishes are transparent)
• It dries surprisingly quick (this is a BIG plus for this polish)
• After applying the polish maybe you will need (not necessarily, depending on how you applied it) to use the nail file on the end of the nails in order to remove the glitters from the edge of your nails
•  I prefer applying a top coat for better shine and protection
•  UPDATE: it is incredibly easy to remove, despite the glitters. I just LOVE this polish.

I am in the glitter fever this Christmas.  I just can't stop using them (although they are so hard to remove :-) ).

For this Christmas I have chosen red and gold as base colors and added (you would never guess what...) some red and gold glitters! Yeah!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

This year I received for Christmas a China Glaze Gift Set: "Baby, It's Cold Outside". 

It contains 3 polishes and a pair of Fingerless Gloves. The polishes are:

This year Santa has bought me my very fist China Glaze Nail Polish!!!! Thank you "Santa"! 

I noticed that there are 2 things impossible about CG:

1. Buying them in Romania.

2. Removing it without acetone!
